Best Beaches in Split Without a Car

You can plan beach time in Split without hiring a car. For a short outing from a central base, start with Bačvice and the nearby eastern beaches. For a longer Marjan outing, consider Kašjuni or Bene and plan both the outward journey and the return. The best choice is the one that fits the time and transport you actually have.

Choose between a short beach break and a longer outing

Five options to compare before setting off
Beach Why consider it Journey to plan
Bačvice A sandy city beach that fits a short central stay. A walking route from your actual accommodation address.
Ovčice Another option near Bačvice for comparing the eastern coast. The full walk there and back, not just the first beach stop.
Firule An eastern beach option for extending your coastal outing. Enough time for the extra distance beyond the Bačvice area.
Kašjuni A beach outing on the Marjan side of the city. A longer walk or suitable transport and a confirmed return plan.
Bene An operating, refurbished beach option by the Marjan forest. The correct route to Bene, separate from the route to Kašjuni.

Start nearby if your time is limited

For a quick afternoon, Bačvice is a practical starting point. From CroParadise reception at Čulića Dvori 29, allow roughly 10–15 minutes on foot as a planning estimate. Your reserved unit can be in another building, so calculate the route from the address you will actually leave.

Ovčice and Firule give you alternatives when you want to continue along the eastern coast. Check the route and decide how far you want to go before leaving. You do not need to visit every beach in one afternoon.

The Bačvice guide covers that particular outing in more detail. For the wider city schedule, use our trip-length plans.

Make Kašjuni and Bene deliberate choices

Marjan beaches can suit a longer excursion, but they should not be treated as the same short walk as Bačvice. Bene has been refurbished and is operating, according to current CroParadise local information. Choose between it and Kašjuni based on the route and the kind of outing you want.

If using a bus, check the current route, stop and return timetable with Promet Split. Do not copy an old route number from a travel blog without confirming where it goes today. If using a taxi, agree the drop-off and organise how you will return.

If you prefer walking, map the full distance and the way back. A beach name beside Marjan does not mean it is beside the first viewpoint. Our Marjan walking guide explains the difference between a short viewpoint walk and a longer park outing.

Pack around the time you will spend out

  • Put swimwear and a towel in a day bag before leaving stored luggage.
  • Bring water and the items you need for sun protection.
  • Carry footwear suitable for the walk and the beach surface you choose.
  • Keep your phone charged and your return route available offline.
  • Take only the valuables you need and keep personal belongings attended.

Check whether the facilities you need are operating before depending on beach food, changing facilities or equipment hire. Services can vary by season and location, and nearby businesses are separate from your accommodation booking.

Adapt to the day’s conditions

Use swimming conditions and on-site guidance to decide what to do when you arrive. If the beach plan no longer works, a coastal walk or a city activity may be a better use of your time. Avoid making the beach your only possible plan before an evening departure.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a car for Bačvice?

A walking outing can work from a central base. Check the route from your reserved unit rather than assuming every room is at reception.

Is Bene beach open?

Yes. Current local information supplied by CroParadise confirms that Bene has been refurbished and is operating. Check current transport and the facilities you need.

Can I walk to every Marjan beach in one short outing?

Do not assume that. Compare the full route, return journey and time you want to spend at the beach.

Is the quietest beach always the same?

No. Crowds and atmosphere change with time and conditions. Choose around the route, beach setting and your available time.
